We were joined by by Singer/Songwriter/Musician Sarah Perotta with whom we discussed her career, gigs, new cd "The Well," from which we played a couple of tracks, along with a couple of cuts from her CD Release Party at the Bearsville Theatre.
Ulster County Legislator Brian Shapiro, a member of the Efficiency, Reform and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, joined us to discuss the passing of Resolution 392: Urging The United States Congress To Create A Select Committee To Investigate The Presidential Administration And To Make Recommendations Regarding Grounds For Possible Impeachment.
Dr. John Feeney spoke with us about an impending global catastrophe, or "Sixth Extinction" which we may well be on the verge of as the human population has exceeded its carrying capacity and is using its resources and producing too much waste at a rate the earth can not sustain.. We talked about the lack of attention to this in the media along with environmental and economic issues which are all part of the same interdependent set of relationships which may well be on a negative spiral.
Trained as a psychologist, Dr. Feeney now writes and speaks about a number of core, yet underreported, environmental issues. Dr. Feeney's articles have appeared in a variety of publications such as the BBC News's Green Room and The Oil Drum. He also maintains a website "Growth is Madness!" where he posts his own writings and features articles from a number of experts in relevant fields (such as renowned ecological economist Herman Daly, anthropologist J. Kenneth Smail, and many others).
