May 4: Live Music with Sarah Perrotta + Part 4 of our Population/Human Rights Series - Species Extinction with Prof. Jeffrey McKee and John Feeney PDF Print E-mail
Radio Broadcast Archive - FRT Radio Archive

Robert and I were glad to have Sarah Perrotta in the WKNY studio with us once again. Sarah's blend of musical elements lend to her unique style that is as charming as it is chilling. She is as brilliant a composer and lyricist as she is a performer - both in terms of her keyboard chops as well as her vocal ability and range. We were completely thrilled that she debuted 3 new tunes of hers and performed a cut off of her recently released CD "The Well" which features such outstanding artists as Garth Hudson, Tony Levin, Chris Lane, and Johnny Watson.

March 30: Interview with Legal Expert Prof Francis Boyle on "Breaking All the Rules: Palestine, Iraq, Iran and the Case for Impeachment + Prof Shadia Drury on the Neocons and Leo Strauss and other... PDF Print E-mail
Radio Broadcast Archive - FRT Radio Archive

During the first half hour I aired an interview Professor Shadia Drury (Professor at AU Regina in Canada, Canada Research Chair in Social Justice, Director of the Masters Program in Social and Political Thought and Professor in the Departments of Political Science and Philosophy) in which we discussed the Neoconservative Straussian ideologues who have infiltrated the White House and Pentagon.

I also read Bertrand Russell's letter, composed 3 days before his death, regarding Israel's aggression towards Lebanon and the Palestinian people. Of particular note is his comment (which Prof Boyle elaborates on during the interview below): "The development of the crisis in the Middle East is both dangerous and instructive. For over 20 years Israel has expanded by force of arms. After every stage in this expansion Israel has appealed to "reason" and has suggested "negotiations." This is the traditional role of the imperial power, because it wishes to consolidate with the least difficulty what it has already taken by violence. Every new conquest becomes the new basis of the proposed negotiation from strength, which ignores the injustice of the previous aggression. The aggression committed by Israel must be condemned, not only because no state has the right to annex foreign territory, but because every expansion is an experiment to discover how much more aggression the world will tolerate."

Listen to Interview with Prof Drury and Russell's letter >>

During the 2nd hour of the program I aired an interview I conducted with Professor Francis A. Boyle - a leading American expert in international law expert , who teaches international law at the University of Champaign, Il. Professor boyle was responsible for drafting the Biological Weapons Antiterrorism Act of 1989, has served on the board of Directors of amnesty International ('88 - '92), represented Bosnia - Herzegovina at the World Court, and has published numerous books including: World Politics and International Law, The Future of International Law and American Foreign Policy, Foundations of World Order, The Criminality of Nuclear Deterrence, Palestine, Palestinians and International Law, Destroying World Order - US Foreign Policy in the Middle East before and After 911.

This interview was based on the lecture he gave at the Bertrand Russell Peace Lecture Series at McMaster University in Canada in January of 2007 - the text of which was recently published (along with appendices and updates) by Clarity Press under the title "Breaking All the Rules - Palestine, Iraq, Iran and the Case for Impeachment".

During the last portion of today's program I was joined by Mario Torchio who runs the New Paltz Cultural collective and 60 Main to discuss the broad spectrum of events, activities, and items available at 60 Main Street in New Paltz including live music, open mic, movies, educational events, art openings, organic fair trade foods, beverages, and garments, as well as just a great open 'public' space in a non-alcohol environment for people to meet up and participate in what I think of as tribal relations - developing community. I was also joined by Kirouana Paddaquahum - medicine chief of the Thunder Clan - to discuss the housing crash and how it relates to the necessity for us all to act now to preserve the precious land of the Hudson Valley - much in line with previous conversations we've had regarding the Ulster County Citizen Park System.

Winter Soldier was first conducted during the Vietnam War and was very effective in bringing the reality of war to the American people, helping to sway public opinion and bring the troops home. Such was the intent of this Winter Soldier.
